HeuroQuest (HQ) & CalTac Privacy Notice

One notice for both websites

Who operates these websites

Math Culture LLC operates HeuroQuest for math practice and CalTac for optional strategy gameplay. Contact Coach K about privacy or your child’s information:

We do not sell students’ or parents’ personal information.

Information we use

We use student and parent names, contact details, family relationships, usernames, screen names, schools, math levels, and registrations to manage accounts and classes. Information comes from families, students, registration providers such as ActivityHero and Homeroom, and authorized staff.

HeuroQuest saves quiz answers, attempts, results, and points to provide practice and track progress. CalTac saves sign-in information, cards, decks, rewards, games, and results to operate the game and preserve progress.

We keep parent permission choices, signatures, dates, support correspondence, and message-delivery records to honor choices and support families. HeuroQuest and CalTac use essential cookies to keep you signed in. HeuroQuest also uses a cookie to protect forms against unauthorized requests. IP addresses, browser details, and security records also help us operate and protect the websites.

Signing in

Google sign-in, when used for HeuroQuest, provides the verified Google account identity and email, not the Google password. CalTac uses the HQ username with a separate password, not school Google sign-in.

HQ provides CalTac with the account ID, username, screen name, points, and access permissions. It does not send the child’s email, real name, school, class, quiz answers, or HQ password to CalTac.

Recognition and other players

HeuroQuest’s Top 25 link can be shared with parents and opened without signing in. It shows screen names, ranks, points, and school colors with a school color key. Use a screen name that does not identify your child by their real name.

CalTac friend play and participant leaderboards are separate parent choices. If approved, the child’s screen name and relevant results are visible to approved CalTac participants. This does not authorize a public CalTac profile.

Service providers

We use Hostinger for website hosting and backups; Resend for email delivery; Google for chosen sign-in and correspondence; and Namecheap for domain services and email forwarding. External browser libraries from jsDelivr, cdnjs/Cloudflare, and jQuery’s CDN can receive technical information when loaded. Providers handle the information needed for their service. Registration providers also handle information under their own policies.

Parent choices and requests

CalTac is optional. You can decline or decide later and still use HeuroQuest. Change CalTac permissions in the Family Portal. Withdrawing permission stops CalTac access but does not automatically delete game history.

Contact Coach K to review or correct your child’s information, request deletion, or refuse further collection or use. We verify parent authority before responding. We explain if removing information means an affected service can no longer operate. Optional disclosures are separate from information necessary to provide a service.

Taking a break and keeping progress

CalTac has no fixed participation end date. Your child can continue playing with your permission after their math classes or HeuroQuest curriculum access end. Ending classes does not remove earned coins, cards, decks, or game progress.

We keep the sign-in, permission, and game information needed to provide that continuing service. A break from HeuroQuest classes is not a request to close CalTac. Contact Coach K to review your child’s information or request deletion.

HeuroQuest practice access is governed separately by our current access arrangements.

If your child’s account has not been used on either HeuroQuest or CalTac for 24 months, we notify you and give you 90 days to resume use before closing the inactive account and deleting personal information no longer needed. Using either website during that notice period keeps the account active.

Permission records document parent choices; technical records support security and troubleshooting. Routine database backups rotate on a 30-day schedule. Retained recovery copies require separate review when information is deleted.

Changes to this notice

We provide the notices and obtain the consent required for children’s information. If a change requires new notice or consent, we obtain it before applying that change. Existing permission is not blanket approval of unrelated future information practices.
